Uric Acid

Uric acid is a natural waste product of the body. Most people don’t have a problem with uric acid but when uric acid levels rise serious and debilitating conditions can result.

As well as gout, uric acid has been linked to cardiovascular condition – high blood pressure, heart conditions and kidney disease – as well as high cholesterol.

Gout can be one of the most painful outcomes of persistent long term high levels of uric acid. Another painful condition that can be result is kidney stones.

Uric acid is basically a chemical that is created by purines. Purines are nitrogen compounds common to the cells of all animal and plant life forms. As the purines break down, uric acid is formed.

Managing purine intake and learning the difference between good purines and bad purines is the key to controlling uric acid levels
